Lewis was sin binned on Saturday
Hull KR boss Willie Peters admits he has spoken to Mikey Lewis about his lapse in discipline last weekend.
Lewis was sin binned just before the interval against Leigh Leopards for a professional foul, holding down Umyla Hanley to prevent him from getting a quick play the ball.
The stand-off has received no further punishment for that, but he did receive three disciplinary points for tripping Adam Cook during the course of the game.
It’s the second time Lewis has been charged for tripping this season, following on from the yellow card he was shown for upending Liam Harris in round one.
He has avoided a ban on both occasions but he moves forward with two disciplinary points and he is now just four points away from a one-game ban.
Lewis has worked hard to improve his discipline under Willie Peters but the head coach is happy with the way he held his hands up to his teammates after the game.
“Mikey and I have good chats all the time,” Peters said when asked about Lewis’ discipline. “We’ve obviously spoken about last weekend and there were a couple of things in his game that crept back in and he knows that.
“That main thing for Mikey is that he’s accountable to his teammates, which he is. He doesn’t want to let anyone down and Mikey is a key member to our team. He knows that last weekend in that game there were a couple of things that he needs to work on again.
“It’s like anything, you just need to keep making sure that you keep on top of things. He’s grown so much in so many areas of his life, as a man and as a player.
“He knows he’s not the finished product and he needs to keep working on his game in and around that. “We always have good discussions, we’re very close and I’m happy with his response after the game to his teammates.”
