Hull FC have opted against playing in Las Vegas next year.

Hull FC will not play in Las Vegas next year, the club have confirmed. The Black and Whites have opted against playing at Allegiant Stadium in 2027, with co-owner Andrew Thirkill stating that the cross Atlantic trip does not ‘represent the right decision’ for the club at this moment in time.

Hull were widely considered the frontrunners, along with St Helens, to play in Vegas in 2027, with both clubs declaring their interest last year. However, after more detailed consideration, they have decided against the venture, instead prioritising their on-field performance and strengthening their position in Super League.

The club have appointed Steve McNamara as their new head coach for the 2027 and are aware of the importance of giving the Hull-born coach the best chance of hitting the ground running next season, a key part of their decision.

A statement from Hull FC Chairman Andrew Thirkill read: “Hull FC can confirm that, following detailed consideration, the club have taken the decision to not participate in Betfred Super League’s Las Vegas fixture in 2027.

“Whilst we recognise the ambition behind the concept and the potential long-term benefits of promoting the sport on a global stage, the club has concluded that at this time, it would not represent the right decision for Hull FC.

“The club has determined that its priority is to focus on improving on-field performance and strengthening its position in the league.

“The club remains supportive of initiatives that help grow the sport, and wishes the very best of luck to the two sides who represent Betfred Super League at the event in 2027.”

Bradford Bulls are now expected to head out to Las Vegas next year. The Bulls confirmed their interest last month and are expected to be the home team. As it stands, they are set to take on Leigh Leopards, as first reported by Love Rugby League.
