A massive signing for KR in more ways than one
Hull KR have confirmed the signing of former Catalans Dragons prop Tevita Pangai Jr on a short-term deal.
Pangai Jr has joined the Robins with immediate effect on a deal that runs until the end of the current season.
The forward spent last year with Catalans, making 23 appearances in what as a turbulent season for the French side. However, after agreeing to join Warrington Wolves for 2026, he U-turned on that deal to try his hand in French rugby union.
He has now opted to return to Super League with KR, with the forward making the immediate switch to east Hull ahead of the Challenge Cup final in less than two weeks’ time.
His signing adds another big body to Willie Peters’ pack as the Robins push to retain the trophies they won last year and it’s fair to say he’s extremely experienced too, with the 30-year-old spending time with Brisbane Broncos, Penrith Panthers, Canterbury Bulldogs and Dolphins in the NRL.
He has also represented Tonga and New South Wales as a player earlier in his career.
“I’m really excited to be joining Hull KR,” Pangai Jr said after penning his short-term deal with the Robins.
“I just want to thank Willie (Peters), Paul (Lakin) and the rest of the board for giving me this opportunity to join a winning culture and be in a great environment which can hopefully allow me to play my best rugby.”
Willie Peters added: “We want to welcome Tevita Pangai Jr to Hull KR. Tevita has played at the highest level.
“On his day, Tevita is one of the most devastating forwards in the game. Tevita is hungry and determined to win over the fans and his teammates.”
