Hull FC will not play in Las Vegas next year.

Hull FC have opted against playing in Las Vegas in 2027.

The Black and Whites were considered one of Super League’s frontrunners to play in the United States of America next season, with Rhodri Jones previously stating that they had ‘one foot in the door’ to play St Helens next season. However, after ‘detailed consideration’, Hull have now made the decision not to participate.

Outlining the biggest why, Hull have stated that improving performance is their primary concern, with the club hoping to kick on in 2027 under a new head coach in Steve McNamara.

Making their decision, they have prioritised on-field growth above all else, with commercial factors, as explained in a Hull Live exclusive interview with Hull FC Chief Operating Officer Tony Sutton, surrounding a Las Vegas trip also coming into play.

Ultimately, though, it’s performance that matters, with Hull finishing seventh last season and without a Super League play-off finish since 2020. They currently sit ninth in a 14-competition this year after what has been an inconsistent and frustrating start to the year.

That reality has played a factor in their decision, with Hull making a decision that they believe best serves the interest of the club.

A club statement read: “Hull FC can confirm that, following detailed consideration, the club will not be participating in the proposed Betfred Super League fixture in Las Vegas in 2027.

“Whilst we recognise the ambition behind the concept and the potential long-term benefits of promoting the sport on a global stage, the club has concluded that at this time, it would not represent the right decision for Hull FC.

“The club has determined that its priority is to focus on improving on-field performance and strengthening its position in the league. The club has communicated its position to Rugby League Commercial and remains supportive of initiatives that help grow the sport.”

Rugby League was first played in Las Vegas via the NRL in 2024, with the Australian competition signing a five-year deal to play at Allegiant Stadium.

Super League was invited the following year, with Wigan Warriors meeting Warrington Wolves. The competition was then invited back for the 2026 event, which saw Hull KR take on Leeds Rhinos.

While still to be officially confirmed, Super League teams are expected to feature once again in 2027, with Bradford Bulls recently voicing their desire to go stateside. St Helens are still considered frontrunners to play.
