The full-back has been out since February

Arthur Mourgue has trained with his Hull KR teammates ahead of this Sunday’s Challenge Cup semi-final clash with Warrington Wolves.

The Frenchman has been sidelined since suffering a pectoral injury that required surgery in the World Club Challenge back in February.

He has been working towards a May return ever since with the Super League clash against Wigan Warriors being originally pencilled in as a potential return date. That date was brought forward a week to the clash with Leigh next weekend before Peters confirmed last week that Mourgue could be in a position to play in the semi-final in Doncaster.

It would be a bold move to bring the Frenchman back into the fold for such a big game, particularly given the impressive form Jack Broadbent has found in recent weeks, but the KR head coach has confirmed that Mourgue is pushing to return to action against the Wolves.

“He’s certainly in contention,” Peters said on Thursday afternoon. “He trained with the squad today, so we need to look at the back end of the week and decide what we do but he looks sharp.

“It’s just working out whether we keep him until next week, which was the plan. That was the return date, or whether we play him this week.

“I think everyone seems okay. We’ve got a good squad at the moment. Obviously, players, this time of the year, they’ll always carry something, but everyone seems okay.”

Asked about the fitness of Sauaso Sue after he sat out of last week’s clash with Castleford Tigers, Peters said: “He will be fine. Dean Hadley trained, he’ll be fine. We’re looking good with those two.”
