The Tigers face Millwall in the first of two games over the next few days

Hull City remain firm outsiders to win promotion to the Premier League, according to the latest bookmaker odds, as they prepare to launch their play-off campaign.

The Tigers, who finished sixth in the Championship after their 2-1 win over Norwich City on Saturday, will face Millwall on Friday night at the MKM Stadium before the return leg at The Den on Monday.

Southampton, who haven’t lost a league game since the Tigers were 2-1 winners on the South Coast in February, face Middlesbrough in the other semi-final for a place in the Wembley final on May 23.

City have been written off by many throughout the season, so it will come as a little surprise to Sergej Jakirovic and his players that they’ve been given a smaller chance than Millwall, Southampton and Middlesbrough.

In the mini league between the four clubs, City claimed 12 points, compared with the 10 notched up by Millwall and Boro, while Southampton managed just two.

City did the double over the Saints, whilst claiming away wins at The Den and Riverside Stadium, but were beaten at home by the Lions and Boro.

In the latest odds, Millwall have the edge to win at the MKM Stadium on Friday night, while Saints are backed to secure an instant return to the Premier League overall.
