He was told his actions had caused ‘significant upset and distress’

A vindictive bully with a history of making threats to kill people targeted five social workers in a series of nasty messages, including threatening to “rip their noses off”. Aiden Weatherill warned them that he had “years worth of anger to take out” and he hurled a series of frightening insults at them, Hull Crown Court heard.

Weatherill, 28, of Greenwood Avenue, north Hull, but recently in custody on remand, denied three offences of harassment between May 16 and June 10 last year but the case was found proved in his absence after a trial before Hull Magistrates’ Court. He also denied an offence of sending grossly offensive emails on June 16 but he was convicted after a trial.

James Yearsley, prosecuting, said that Weatherill sent many messages in a group chat to social workers threatening he would rip their noses off and stab them in their eyes. He called them “Nazis” and said that he had “years worth of anger to take out” and he “would eat their children”.

When other people were added to the group chat, he sent a woman a message saying: “Come out from behind the keyboard.” Weatherill said in another message: “I will bite your f***ing nose off and stick it up your a**e.”

On June 16 last year, he sent emails to a compliance team and called people there Nazis and “c***s” and blamed them for him not being in a relationship. He claimed that people should be “gassed or burned”.

Weatherill had convictions for seven previous offences between 2021 and 2024, including sending a threatening communication. He had convictions in October 2024 for making threats to kill, harassment and communicating false information through making a bomb hoax threat.

Tom Doyle, mitigating, said that Weatherill had been in custody on remand since June 30 last year. He was in breach of a two-year suspended prison sentence imposed for the latest matters in October 2024.

“He does accept that the things he said were wrong,” said Mr Doyle. “They were wrong and he knows this. The prison environment has been of some benefit to him.

“Prison is a harsh environment. He finds himself effectively in solitary confinement. He hopes to nip his offending in the bud once and for all.”

Weatherill was disappointed to find himself back in custody and he was desperate to get back into the community.

Judge Tahir Khan KC told Weatherill: “You have a sorry history of previous convictions of making threats to kill and breaching restraining orders and the like. In these proceedings, you targeted five social workers.

“You caused them significant upset and distress. You were convicted after a trial and so there is no credit to be had in those circumstances. An immediate sentence of custody is inevitable given your past history.”
