Hull FC’s future at the MKM Stadium has been labelled as ‘in trouble’ by the Hull City owner.
Andy Last has issued a short but firm message in response to Hull City owner Acun Ilıcalı’s recent comments surrounding Hull FC’s future at the MKM Stadium.
Ilıcalı stated that the Black and Whites’ future at the Hull City Council-owned venue is ‘in trouble’ after the majority vote at a recent Hull City Fans Forum showed City fans’ desire to have the rugby league club removed from the venue.
Hull FC‘s current lease runs out at the end of the 2027 season, with Ilıcalı stating that he wants a more ‘fair and equal’ deal in order for the club to continue playing at the stadium after the end of next year.
Hull City operate the running of the MKM Stadium through their ownership and control of the SuperStadium Management Company (SMC), with the Tigers’ owner wanting a significantly larger financial contribution from Hull FC.
Hull FC are not currently commenting on Ilıcalı’s remarks. However, Andy Last provided a short but frank message when asked by Hull Live for his thoughts on the situation.
Last, in interim charge as head coach for the rest of the 2026 season, was still a player with the Black and Whites when the club moved to the stadium ahead of the 2003 season and knows full well what and who the stadium was built for.
“I’ve got no comment on it, to be honest,” Last said. “It’s the least of my worries at the moment. We’ve just been beaten by Toulouse at home and I’ll be focusing on that, not worrying about what an owner from Turkey has got to say about whether we should have a home at the MKM Stadium, which was built for the people of Hull. I’ll leave it at that.”
