The Super League title is being memorialised with a new matchday service

One of the most unforgettable days in the history of Hull KR is being memorialised with a bus service in the city. Robins fans will now be able to travel to matches at Sewell Group Craven Park on Service 246 – a reference to the 24-6 scoreline by which KR defeated Wigan Warriors in last season’s Super League Grand Final. The service was previously named 13C.
Meanwhile, timetables for Service 246 have been revised so they “better suit kick-off times” and additional journeys have been added to offer extra capacity and flexibility to match-goers. Matt Cranwell, managing director of Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “The triumph in the Grand Final capped what was a unique season for Hull KR – and one of the most notable in the history of rugby league. Many of our team are huge fans of the sport, so we wanted to do something to mark this incredible day.
“Now, we hope that local fans will want to get the bus to the game – without the stress and worry of driving to the stadium and trying to find a parking spot.”
Chris Jackson, executive director for Regeneration & Partnerships at Hull City Council, said: “As a council, we welcome this new commercial service from Stagecoach East Midlands.
“Not only will it provide fans with even more choice in terms of how they get to and from games, but it also supports more sustainable and active travel and helps achieve the city’s aim to be carbon neutral by 2030.
“It also helps in terms of network management and reduces parking pressures around the stadium – which the club and the council’s neighbourhood team have been working collaboratively to address.”
Phil Stow, operations manager for Hull KR, added: “The club has seen tremendous growth over the last few years, and with that comes new, healthy problems which we have to tackle. One of those problems has been ensuring that our loyal supporters have a reliable and sustainable way to travel to and from Sewell Group Craven Park to watch the World Champions.
“Adding the 246 service will give our fans an affordable way to travel and will help relieve stresses surrounding parking around the stadium. The club would like to thank Hull City Council and Stagecoach for the addition of this service.”
Service 246 is just one way to get to Sewell Group Craven Park, which also includes Service 13. An updated Journey Planner, on the Stagecoach App, gives full information on local bus routes and allows supporters to buy before boarding and to track your bus.
