Both local councils have released data on place allocations
Parents and carers across Hull and the East Riding have today received their children’s primary school place allocation for September 2026. Both Hull City Council and East Riding Council have released figures on how many children have received their preferred choice.
In the East Riding 95% of children have been offered a place at their first choice of school. 99% of families received an offer for one of their three preferred schools.
In total, East Riding Council received 2,855 applications for primary and infant school places. 2,713 children were allocated their first preference and 2,819 secured a place at one of their top three preferred schools.
The council has said that of the 35 children who could not be allocated a place at their preferred schools, 31 children have been allocated a place at their catchment school. Four have been offered a place at the next nearest school with availability.
Cllr Victoria Aitken, East Riding’s cabinet member for children, families and education, said: “I’m pleased to see that 95% of families have received their first choice of school for their child. Families will receive an email confirming their child’s school place by 4pm on Thursday, April 16. Schools will then begin sending information to families, ready for a smooth transition into school in September.”
