‘Having grown up in East Hull it’s important to me that we continue to invest in the region’

A Hull construction company is under new ownership after being snapped up by a Yorkshire property entrepreneur. Patrick Welsh, founder and managing director of Eden Property Group, has acquired HU Developments, a construction firm with more than 25 years’ experience.

Eden Property Group was founded in 2018 and has since built a strong presence across Yorkshire, specialising in the niche area of title splitting residential blocks into individual units. The company now owns a portfolio of more than 68 properties and over 100 tenants.

Mr Welsh says the acquisition of HU Developments was made in a strategic move to boost delivery across its growing property portfolio, bringing construction services in-house. The move will also boost revenues by 25%, and sees Eden Property Group take on 16 staff.

The new owner of the Bond Street based construction company said the acquisition marks a big step in Eden’s ambitions to create a property platform across the region, combining investment, refurbishment and construction under one roof.

Patrick Welsh said: “This acquisition is a major milestone for us. Bringing construction in-house allows us to operate more efficiently, maintain high standards across every stage of a project, and ultimately deliver better outcomes for our tenants and investors.

“Having grown up in East Hull, it’s important to me that we continue to invest in the region and create long-term value in the communities we know best. HU Developments has a strong reputation locally, and integrating the team into Eden gives us a fantastic platform for the next phase of growth.”

Before launching Eden Property Group, Mr Welsh spent 12 years working as a senior engineer in an international role for a major corporate organisation, developing expertise in systems, project delivery and operational leadership. That background continues to shape the company’s structured, process-driven approach to growth.

The Hull-based acquisition forms part of a wider long-term strategy to expand Eden’s capabilities through complementary construction, supply chain and property service businesses, enabling the group to scale up across Yorkshire.
