Hull FC have made a loan signing.

Harry Newman is set to play for Hull FC against St Helens at the MKM Stadium on Thursday night. The Black and Whites are understood to have first enquired about Newman last week and have now agreed a loan deal to sign the Leeds Rhinos centre, who will replace Arthur Romano in the side following the Frenchmen’s ankle injury.

Romano suffered the injury in the Good Friday derby against Hull KR and will be out for around 8-12 weeks after a surgery and rehab period. Meanwhile, Newman’s loan is expected to be short term.

The England centre hasn’t featured in Leeds’ last two games against Warrington Wolves and Bradford Bulls, with his last appearance for the Rhinos ironically coming against Hull FC last month. New overseas recruit Jack Bird has instead been given the nod.

But now Newman is set for Super League action once again with the Black and Whites. The 26-year-old is the first addition to their squad since salary cap dispensation was applied for following a season-ending ACL injury to Will Pryce back in February.

Meanwhile, Newman has played 136 games for Leeds since his 2017 debut, with his only club stint away from the Rhinos coming at Featherstone Rovers seven years ago. He has also got seven England caps to his name, most recently in last year’s Ashes series against Australia, and has signed for new NRL franchise Perth Bears for the 2027 season and beyond.
