Joel Ndala is now at Sheffield Wednesday having spent the first half of the season with Hull City

Joel Ndala could leave Sheffield Wednesday before the scheduled end of his loan from Manchester City.

That’s according to the Sheffield Star who allege the 19-year-old ‘turned up late’ for the team’s travel arrangements for the Good Friday game with Stoke City.

Former Hull City loanee Ndala was an unused substitute at the bet365 Stadium as the Owls were beaten 2-0. Ndala has not started a game for the Hillsborough outfit since February 25 – with his last four appearances coming off the bench.

He didn’t even make it that far on Easter Monday, as Wednesday drew 1-1 with Leicester City. The Star quote Owls boss Henrik Pedersen as saying: “He was in the squad at Stoke but had some problems with his hamstring.

“He didn’t train yesterday. There were players that were late (for the trip to Stoke), but we deal with this internally as we normally do when a player is late. There are always the same rules.”

The Star say Wednesday are considering their next step and that all parties will decide on the ‘best route forward’ for the talented youngster.

Ndala began the season on loan with City for whom he made 17 Championship appearances including ten starts but left in January and joined the Owls.

He played the final 17 minutes of his return to the MKM Stadium last month, as the Tigers ran out 3-1 winners. In all he has made 13 starts in 25 games for City and Wednesday this season and scored just one league goal.

Speaking ahead of that match on March 21, City boss Sergej Jakirovic said: “”He must prove everything on the pitch, and for him, the decision was easy because he may have wanted to play more minutes, but OK.”
