JCT600 has invested in its Priory Tec Park base in recent months

Car showroom company JCT600 has opened one of Yorkshire’s first dealerships for Chinese electric vehicle brand Xpeng. The group’s expanding Priory Tec Park base in Hessle now includes the EV maker’s range, which launched in the UK only last year.

The opening comes after changes to JCT600’s Hessle operation including its Volkswagen dealership and van centre which are now located together. The Xpeng showroom also follows the opening of a Changan EV dealership at Priory Tec Park along with JCT600’s Approved used vehicles dealership in March – a move which is expected to create 10 jobs in sales and aftersales.

John Tordoff, executive chairman at JCT600, said: “This is an important step in the continued development of our business. Expanding our partnerships with new and innovative EV brands ensures we are well positioned for the future and able to offer customers across Yorkshire greater choice as the market continues to evolve.”

Xpeng UK sales director, Jonny Miller, said: “2026 will be a year of growth for Xpeng UK. The new Xpeng G6 arrives in showrooms shortly, and we have more exciting new models coming later this year. We are very pleased to appoint JCT600 in Leeds and Hull, signalling our intent to grow our retailer coverage in key locations this year.”

The Hull site will offer sales, servicing and aftersales support, with new jobs expected to be created this year. JCT600 has also launched a similar site in Leeds, which it says has created six positions.

Xpeng is relatively new manufacturer, having launched in 2014 in Guangzhou, southern China. It is part of the new wave of technology-led electric vehicle companies which are focussed on onboard software and energy efficiency.

Its G6 electric SUV will be the first model available at the new Yorkshire dealerships, with additional vehicles due to join the UK line-up later this year. JCT600 says the investment in Xpeng builds on its recent partnerships in the electric vehicle market, including Changan.
