Full day of independent filmmakers’ work to be screened
A full day’s programme featuring 40 short films from across the UK and internationally, including 11 student films and work from 15 first-time filmmakers, is coming to Beverley ’s Parkway Cinema this month. The Glowflare Short Film Festival will take place on Saturday, April 18.
The Hull-based team behind the event described it as a “celebration of bold stories and new voices in cinema” with a chance to enjoy compelling short films, inspiring screenings, live Q&As, filmmaker meet-ups, and a vibrant awards showcase.” A spokesperson said: “The festival presents a full day of independent short-form cinema – films under 40 minutes – supporting emerging filmmakers from across Yorkshire, the Humber region, and international creative communities.”
Five curated cinema screenings have been organised for audiences, with the opportunity to buy a session pass or an entire festival pass. “The programme spans narrative, documentary, animation, and experimental work, combining regional storytellers with international voices,” the spokesperson said.
“Selected films, including Gan Canny, Twain, Sands of Purgatory, Reparation, and Tea With Friends are among those leading into the 2026 awards presentation.” With red-carpet cinema screenings and filmmaker Q&A sessions, Glowflare will also include an awards presentation – audience choice voting will be open to all attendees.

“The festival supports emerging creatives and contributes to the wider regional screen and creative sector,” the spokesperson said. In January, the unveiling of the official 40 film line-up was announced, with subsequent award nominations recognising excellence across directing, screenwriting, performance, cinematography and creative craft.
“The selection of films reflects Glowflare’s continued commitment to championing emerging voices while showcasing bold, independent storytelling,” the spokesperson said. “The response to this year’s lineup and nominations has been incredibly encouraging.
“Each announcement has built momentum, and we are now excited to welcome audiences into the cinema to experience these films on the big screen.” With limited capacity at Parkway Cinemas, early booking is advised.
