The striker grabbed a goal and an assist in what was a fine individual display
Kyle Joseph revealed how he was invited to the chairman’s suite by owner Acun Ilicali after his goal and assist propelled Hull City to a crucial victory over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
Joseph delivered a Man of the Match display to help City beat the Owls 3-1 and notch up a 20th league win of the Championship season, which leaves the Tigers fifth in the league with seven games left.
The striker carved out the equaliser for Matt Crooks just 94 seconds after bottom-side Wednesday had taken a surprise lead at the MKM Stadium.
After Dominic Iorfa headed into his own net on the stroke of half-time to give Sergej Jakirovic’s men the lead, Joseph fired in his eighth goal of the season just before the hour, after being teed up by Oli McBurnie.
Joseph, who was on post-match media duties after an impressive display, went to receive the congratulations of a very happy Tigers owner.
“He was saying well done and stuff like that,” Joseph told Hull Live. “He was happy with the result, after the game and with how I played. If the chairman’s happy, we’re all happy.”

After last weekend’s disappointing showing at West Brom, getting back to winning ways was crucial for City, especially going into the international break.
“It was a good day at the office,” the striker continued. “A good performance, a good win going into the international break. It’s been a gruelling period, but it’s nice to get a win before the break.
“I think it was important to get on terms quickly. We knew they were going to be a difficult game They’re a good side, take nothing away from them. I know they’ve been relegated and with the off-field problems, but they’re still a good team, they’ve got good players, and they caused us problems. We knew they were going to do that. We showed the character to get back into the game, and I think we’ve shown that all season.
“It was a lovely finish from Crooksy. It was a great team goal, right from the kick-off, we showed a lot of composure and calmness around the final third. I put it on a plate for Crooksy, you can’t miss him, and it was a good finish. Then it was important to get that second goal before half-time.
“If we came out in the second half at 1-1, it would probably turn into a different game. They probably sit back a bit more and defend the 1-1 draw, and they take that back home. It was important to get that second goal just before half-time, which opened the game a bit more. They had to be a bit more expansive and come out to press us, and that opened up a lot of space.
“We said at half-time, it’s important to get the next goal. We didn’t really want to go into the latter stages of the game being 2-1 up because their fans will keep pushing them, and they’ll push more bodies forward and push us back. It’s happened quite a few times this season.
“Swansea at home was a good example in terms of how pushed back we were. To get that third goal (was crucial). Joffy’s (Joe Gelhardt) done really well to press the lad into making a mistake and then going up the other end, I slid Oli (McBurnie) in behind and he cut it back and yeah, 3-1, happy days.”
