Hull FC hold the desire to play in Las Vegas – but on one key condition.
Hull FC and St Helens are still regarded as the frontrunners to play in Las Vegas next season, with the two Super League clubs widely expected to play at Allegiant Stadium in 2027.
The NRL still have two years running on their original five-year deal with the venue, and the general consensus is that Super League will play its part again next season, with Hull KR and Leeds Rhinos adding a significant portion to the 45,700 crowd on Saturday night.
It’s long been thought that Hull and Saints will now follow suit, with Black and Whites CEO Richie Myler telling Hull Live last month that the club ‘would love to be a part of it.’ However, as Myler stated in his exclusive Q&A, it has to be viable and ‘100 per cent the right thing to do for the club’.
If that’s the case, then Hull will play in Vegas, with the club weighing up the pros and cons and set for meetings with both NRL and Super League officials in the coming weeks as the makeup for the 2027 event is finalised.
Exploring every avenue, Hull will determine what they deem best for the club and go from there, but the desire is to head to the States if it’s viable and to make a fist of it in the Nevada stronghold.
“We came late into the party for 2026,” Myler told Hull Live back in February. “We were trying to find ourselves, and we entered the conversation with Leeds, Hull KR, and St Helens. We were very late to that party and we understood that it would be best to wait and put our hat in the ring for 2027.
“We’d love to be a part of it. We’ll have conversations in the next few months and if it transpires that it is 100% the right thing for the club, both commercially and in terms of playing, then we’ll do it.”
Meanwhile, head coach John Cartwright has reaffirmed his support for Vegas. The Hull FC boss was assistant coach at Brisbane Broncos when the reigning NRL Premiers went stateside in 2024 and has always voiced his support for the concept.
“I think it’s great,” Cartwright said in Monday’s pre-match press conference. “It’s a great experience. And it’s fantastic for the game to have the chance to promote itself in another market.
“I was lucky enough to go with the Broncos when it first started and it’s just a great experience. It’s good for the fans and it will help grow our sport. It’s a no-brainer.”
Asked if he’d like to take Hull in 2027, Cartwright added: “Yeah – I think it’s just a great experience for everyone. I think the fans would really buy into it. The proof has been there for the last few years.
“It’s great for the players; it’s a big occasion and a Grand Final-type atmosphere. You learn more by playing on the big stage as well. It’s got a lot of positives to it.”
