Willie Peters’ message to Jack Broadbent comes true as Vegas stage awaits.

Willie Peters told Jack Broadbent just weeks ago that he would play a significant role in Hull KR ’s season – and that statement has now come to fruition, with one of the sport’s biggest stages awaiting in Las Vegas.

The 25-year-old is set for an extended run at full-back following the injury to Arthur Mourgue, who is scheduled to undergo surgery on a pectoral injury sustained in the World Club Challenge against Brisbane Broncos.

Broadbent played a key role in Hull KR’s historic 2025 campaign. He featured at full-back in the Challenge Cup Final triumph over Warrington Wolves – the first of three titles claimed across the year – and made 30 appearances across the year, scoring 17 tries.

He will now start at full-back in Saturday’s blockbuster clash in Sin City, as Hull KR face Leeds Rhinos at Allegiant Stadium as part of the NRL’s showpiece event.

“Jack has played in massive games for us – a Grand Final and a Challenge Cup Final. He’s the next man to take that full-back jersey,” head coach Peters confirmed.

“He’s got a great opportunity, and I know he’ll take it with both hands. I said to him a couple of weeks ago – obviously he wasn’t in the team against Brisbane – ‘You’re going to play a big part in what we do.’ He has every year since he came here.”

Mourgue, 26, is meanwhile expected to spend around 12 weeks on the sidelines. He was forced off in the first half against Brisbane at the MKM Stadium, a significant blow after an impressive pre-season – his first with the club.

“It’s massively disappointing,” Peters added.

“He had a really strong pre-season and looked sharp. There was so much to like about everything he did. I thought he started the game outstandingly against Brisbane. It’s disappointing for him, but we’ll rally around him.”
