The Hull FC winger has signed a new deal – and is now targeting the very top.

Harvey Barron believes his new Hull FC deal is a reward for hard work and has now pledged to try and establish himself as one of the top wingers in Super League.

The pacey winger – as first reported by Hull Live last week – has signed a two-year extension to his current deal, keeping him at the Black and Whites until the end of the 2029 season.

Barron follows on from Lewis Martin, who signed a new five-year deal earlier this month – and ensures that Hull have their two most prized wingers signed up long-term.

“I’m buzzing,” Barron told Hull Live. “It was done last year but I’m happy it’s out there now and everyone knows. It was an easy decision to make. This club has backed me since I was young so when Richie came along and put an offer on the table, the only option for me was to sign it.

“I’m over the moon to be here for another four years and it’s nice to have a bit of security and also nice for the club to repay my hard work after a good couple of years. The club is only going up and I’m happy to be a part of it.

“I feel like, individually, last year was my best to date, so it’s great to have been offered a contract extension and a chance to sort my long-term future out – now I can just focus on playing rugby.

“I still feel like I’ve got a lot more to give. I’ve been working hard on tidying up little details in my game. I feel like I’ve built the foundations now and I’m working on the little details of my game to really establish myself as a top winger in the league. I’m grateful I’ve got time now and years to keep pushing on and keep improving.”

Barron broke through onto the Hull FC first-team scene in 2022, making a try-scoring debut away at Toulouse Olympique. He has since established himself as a key player in the Black and Whites side, going on to score 25 tries in 44 appearances.

Outlining a key catalyst for that progress, Director of Rugby Gareth Ellis added: “Harvey’s development over the last couple of years speaks for itself. He’s a real athlete.

“Securing his services for an additional two years on top of his previous deal is a smart piece of business because he is only going to get better year on year.

“I think fans can see how his body frame has grown in the last 18 months, which enables him to be a key asset for us in the backfield, especially bearing in mind the faster rucks that will be in play this season.”
