In many ways, Beverley has remained unchanged for hundreds of years, especially when it comes to shopping.
While the nature of the businesses may have changed hands over the years, Beverley is still known by a lot of people as “a little York” for its range of independent traders, quaint thoroughfares and historic buildings. One thing that has altered over time is the pedestrianisation of some areas and the creation of Flemingate Shopping Centre, set apart from the traditional retail heart of the town.
Do you recall how things used to look when you popped over to Beverley to shop on a Saturday in the past? Take a look through these photographs from the Hull Daily Mail archive and see if you can spot what has changed, and what has not altered at all.
