The Hull KR academy product has a new club for the 2026 season.
Released Hull KR youngster Leo Tennison will ply his trade in the Championship next year after agreeing a deal with Newcastle Thunder for 2026.
The 21-year-old recently departed Sewell Group Craven Park, with Hull KR stating at the time he was set to join a Super League club for 2026.
Love Rugby League has reported that the prop has inked a permanent deal with newly promoted York Knights, which is yet to be announced, but is set to play for Newcastle Thunder as part of an affiliate partnership between the two clubs.
A product of the Robins’ youth pathways, Tennison made his official first-team debut during the 2023 campaign against Wigan Warriors at the Brick Community Stadium. He was also named on the interchange bench in a 26-14 Challenge Cup quarter-final victory over Leigh Leopards in 2024, while regularly featuring for the club’s reserves side.
Tennison has also gained senior experience during loan spells at Featherstone Rovers and Goole Vikings.
Newcastle Thunder and York Knights announced a new partnership earlier this month, alongside NRL side Penrith Panthers, aimed at aligning development pathways and creating additional playing opportunities. Bailey Antrobus and Sam Cook have also moved from York to the north east ahead of the 2026 Championship season.
On his latest addition, Newcastle head coach Graham Steadman said: “Leo’s come from a good system with high standards and has experience in the Betfred Championship through loan spells with Featherstone Rovers and Goole Vikings.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how he develops in our environment. He adds options to the pack we are building.”
