A predatory rapist has been warned that he faces a lengthy prison sentence after he targeted a woman in a hotel room and ignored her desperate pleas to stop. The victim was staying at the hotel overnight after going out with friends for drinks on her birthday, Hull Crown Court heard.
Aaron Robinson, 33, of no fixed address and recently in custody on remand, originally denied raping the woman and a trial started. He later changed his plea to guilty after the prosecution case had started.
Stephen Robinson, prosecuting, said that the woman and several other people went for a night out in Hull for her birthday. She later stayed overnight at a hotel in the city centre.
The defendant had been using cocaine that evening and he was also staying at the hotel. He got into the woman’s bed and started touching her.
She told him: “Get the f*** off” and made it clear that she was not consenting to sex. Robinson told her: “Come on, come on” and tried to kiss her. “She didn’t want to have sex with him,” said the prosecutor.
“She could not be any clearer that she did not want to have sex. Despite this, he got on top of her.” The woman said: “Get off.”
Robinson told her to “shush” and had sex with her. Two friends of the woman, who had been on the night out, went to the woman’s room and saw that she had been crying.
The woman told them that she had found blood. “She didn’t want to go to the police at that time,” said the prosecutor.
The woman told one of the female friends the next morning about what had happened to her. She reported matters to the police on June 2, 2023 and Robinson was arrested two days later.
There were problems with the recording equipment during the police interview but he claimed that he did not force himself on the woman. She would have been a “compelling witness” during a trial, said the prosecutor.
“You will be able to be sure of the defendant’s guilt,” he said. There was no question that she had definitely not “fabricated” her account.
After Robinson changed his plea to guilty, the case was adjourned for pre-sentence reports on him. He is due to be sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court on December 11.
He was further remanded in custody. A second charge of rape, which he denied, and was originally part of the trial, will lie on file.
