A local family firm which started life through a business idea sparked on honeymoon is now marking a 10 year milestone, with plans for more UK growth. Store More Self Storage opened its Willerby site 10 years ago, and huge demand from a raft of customers has seen it expand to open sites outside of its East Yorkshire heartland.
The bases are used by everyone from commercial business customers to people looking for storage during big life events, such as house moves and home improvements. They are also used by students looking for somewhere secure to keep all their belonging before the new studying year begins.
The original idea for the business initially came in 2012, when Dean Booty was on honeymoon in the US with his wife Claire. There, they could see that self storage was becoming big business.
Spotting a gap in the market for a self-storage facility back home, a small 24-hour unit was launched in Beverley months later. Demand meant they were soon searching for a larger, second facility.
A lease was signed for the facility in Willerby in 2016, marking the official launch of Store More. And less than a year later, the family set about expanding the facility on the back of even more customer demand – and the firm’s first birthday coincided with it reaching 200 customers.
Since then, it has grown to own and operate seven sites in all around the UK, including Wrexham, Beverley, Mansfield, Glasgow and South Shields, alongside its two Hull bases. Now, as the firm marks a decade in business, bosses at the business say they are proud of the relationships they’ve built with their customers.
The firm said: “We opened our doors at our Willerby branch in October 2016 with a very simple philosophy: put service first, do more than expected for our customers and go the extra mile whenever the opportunity arises.

“Over the years, we’ve continued to grow and now operate seven sites across the UK, with further locations in the pipeline. Supporting our local communities is also important to us, and we’re proud to sponsor numerous local sporting teams.
“As a proud family-run business, Store More believes that delivering a personal, reliable service and building strong relationships with customers are just as important as its continued growth.” The firm said it is also proud of its involvement in the wider self-storage industry. It is a member of the Self Storage Association (SSA), which brings together businesses and professionals from across the sector.
The firm added: “Reaching this 10-year milestone provides an opportunity to reflect on how far the business has come since opening in Willerby in 2016, while looking ahead to the next stage of development. With further sites planned, Store More remains focused on building on the foundations established over the past decade – putting customers first, maintaining high standards of service and continuing to grow as a family-run business.”
