The Dive Deeper event – taking place on November 11 – will involve talks next to the Endless Ocean exhibit and take place after hours

A ‘Dive Deeper’ event will welcome the public to Hull aquarium The Deep to hear information about its conservation projects, with information delivered by three marine experts. The Deep will be opening its doors past closing to welcome the public in for a series of after-hours talks.

Hosted beside the Endless Ocean habitat, home to many marine species, these events offer accessible talks delivered in a relaxed setting. Hearing from three expert speakers, attendees can expect to uncover deeper insights into The Deep’s own conservation projects as well as a closer look into how stories over time have shaped nearby attraction, Dumble Farm, into the organisation it is today.

Begin the evening hearing from senior aquarist Lloyd Wilkinson as he shares his incredible experience working on the frontline of conservation at the Punta San Juan Reserve in Peru. Next, Fiona Wilson, director of Dumble Farm, shares how moving from a dairy farming business that struggled to survive with the current climate changes and economic situations, Dumble Farm set out on a new venture, ‘farming for wildlife’. Rounding off the evening, attendees will join Dr Rob Bullock, head of conservation, for a crash course in biodiversity conservation.

To round off the evening, there will be the opportunity to get involved in hands-on interaction, helping attendees learn more about conservation choices. Expect big questions, tough choices, a little scientific detective work, and the chance to discover whether you’ve got what it takes to help save the world.

Running since 2021, Hull’s award-winning conservation and education charity has hosted nine Dive Deeper events, with over 860 guests welcomed to learn more across a wide variety of engaging topics.

Tickets are £8 per person, the bar will be open to serve a range of draft beers, wines, soft/hot drinks and snacks. Whether you’re an ocean lover, a budding scientist, or simply curious, Dive Deeper invites the public to an evening packed full of insight.

Spaces are limited, so booking is required in advance via The Deep’s website .
