More than 100 ravers turned up for an early-morning party at a Beverley Bar, centred on Yorkshire’s favourite drink. Sleepers Bar’s first ever Yorkshire Tea Rave kicked off on Saturday morning, with 110 adults and kids turning up to dance with glow sticks, and sip on their favourite hot beverages, all before 9am.

The inaugural event at the bar was a massive success with people of all generations coming together to share the dancefloor, Sleepers’ operations and marketing manager Harry Bates said. Yorkshire Tea sponsored the event, providing decorations, merchandise and new iced beverages to try. The bar is already planning another event and says it “couldn’t have asked for a better response”.

Local baker Ashleigh of Scrumbakes contributed a lifelike cake shaped like a box of Yorkshire Tea. The idea came after the team at Sleepers reached out to its social media followers to see if there was an appetite for an early-morning event. The post had more than 100,000 views and thousands of comments, so they decided to organise a coffee rave, which has become popular countrywide as people swap booze and late nights for clear heads and early mornings. But this quirky event had a truly Yorkshire twist.

Harry said: “Our Coffee Rave with a Yorkshire twist was a fantastic success, with 110 people joining us for a morning full of music, dancing and brilliant energy. It was wonderful to see people of all ages coming together, with different generations sharing the dancefloor and enjoying something a little different.

“A real highlight was showcasing the creativity of local baker Ashleigh, who runs Scrumbcakes, and created an incredible Yorkshire Tea box entirely out of cake. It looked so realistic that guests were amazed to discover it was edible.

“We could thank Yorkshire Tea enough for merchandise we gave out, flavoured tea customers could enjoy throughout the event and of course, flavoured Yorkshire ice tea for everyone as a big thank you! The atmosphere was fantastic from start to finish, and with people already asking when the next one would be, we couldn’t have asked for a better response. We’re delighted to confirm that the next Coffee Rave will be in December, so keep your eyes peeled for more details.”
