Hull City target Marco Pašalić has opened the door to a Janunary transfer saying he still hopes to return to Europe.

The Croatia international was one of the players Sergej Jakirovic had identified as an option for the Tigers’ right wing.

Jakirovic worked with Pašalić at Rijeka, prior to the City boss taking over at Dinamo Zagreb, while the player went on to earn a €5million transfer to Orlando City.

He has played 23 games this season, making 13 starts and has scored three goals in all competitions. In total he has 18 and six assists in 64 matches for the MLS outfit.

He is under contract until potentially 2028 and is currently on international duty with Croatia.

Speaking ahead of the Nations League double header with Spain and fixtures with Czechia and England the 26-year-old addressed the breakdown of his move to MKM Stadium.

He told Croatian website Portal he is happy to see the start City have made: “I’m glad they’re pushing well. The transfer fell through late in the transfer window. I was upset because I want to go back to Europe, but we’ll try something in the winter.”

City held discussions over a €7m transfer only to opt for Mohamed-Ali Cho from Nice, while Mohamed Belloumi has been in outstanding form and has earned a recall to the Algeria squad.
