The Robins head to Warrington Wolves on Saturday night in the first round of the Super League play-offs
Hull KR have their final few weeks of the Super League season mapped out as they bid to defend the title they won at Old Trafford last year.
The Robins finished sixth in the Super League table and as a result, they face the toughest run of any play-off side to the Grand Final. They go to third placed Warrington Wolves on Saturday evening knowing that a win would set up a semi-final away to Wigan Warriors as the lowest ranked team remaining in the competition.
Of course, winning the competition from sixth is something no team has ever done before and the odds are now stacked against Peters’ Robins.
That won’t stop the Australian dreaming of the perfect ending at Old Trafford, though, and having that knowledge of exactly what it will take to get there is a bonus.
“Having a vision always helps,” Peters said. “We know what we’re doing for the next two weeks.
“We want to be at Old Trafford at the end of the day we’re planning for three weeks. We’ve got it all planned for the next three weeks that we’re going to be in the Grand Final.
“If we perform to the level we know we can, we have a vision and plan in place. It’s just about action on the field and I’m confident the players will do that this week.”
KR have met Warrington on three occasions already this season, with the latter two games ending in defeat. Peters is confident that his side can learn from those fixtures though as they approach the do or die contest.
“That first game I thought we were great because we didn’t give them anything,” he added. “They had to earn it all and we did come over the top of them.
“The other two games, the second game we were flat. They ran harder, tackled harder and we were flat-footed that game. It was one of the games were we did look flat, we looked tired.
“I actually liked a lot of what we did when we played at home for 60-odd minutes but we had poor discipline and we gave up the inside shoulder and when you do that more often than not, it leads to a try.
“If we’re clean in yardage, we have our discipline back to where it should be and we protect the inside the shoulders then that will give us a real good chance to win this game.”
