Hull KR have confirmed that Joe Burgess will depart the club.

Hull KR winger Joe Burgess will leave the club at the end of the 2026 season, despite being under contract for next year.

The Wigan-born star was linked with an exit last month and will now take up another opportunity with a Super League club – ending a highly successful three-year stint at the East Hull outfit.

A treble winner with the Robins last season, Burgess, who arrived at Craven Park ahead of 2024, played his part in the all-conquering campaign, also featuring against Brisbane Broncos in the World Club Challenge victory back in February.

But he will now depart the club at the end of the season, with Rovers chief executive Paul Lakin paying tribute to Burgess and outlining why the player, who has been widely reported to be joining Catalans Dragons, will now leave for pastures new.

“Joe has been a fantastic player for us and will leave at the end of the season having been a cornerstone of our success over the last three seasons,” Lakin said.

“Whilst Joe had one more year left on his contract we recently engaged in open and transparent discussions with him and his manager to seek future opportunities elsewhere for 2027 onwards, due to our salary cap restrictions and our desire to add some more depth to the squad. As you would expect there was no shortage of offers.

“With so much still to play for in 2026 Joe, along with other departing players and staff, will receive the recognition and tribute he rightly deserves, addressing the fans at the end of the season.”
