Millar has interest from the Championship

Sergej Jakirovic would like Liam Millar to stay with Hull City but the winger’s future looks set to hinge on the club’s success in the transfer market.
Millar was City’s hero on Saturday afternoon as he stepped off the bench to score the only goal of the game at the CBS Arena against Coventry City. It was an effort that handed the club their second Premier League win of the season, but it was also a reminder of what the Canada international can offer the Tigers, particularly as an impact sub.
Jakirovic didn’t need the goal to know Millar’s value, but as the transfer window approaches its climax, it seems the winger’s hopes being able to pick up the game time he wants could fade.
Millar has options, with Championship clubs Stoke City and Birmingham City known to be keen on the winger’s services. The winger isn’t thought to be keen on a move away from East Yorkshire at present, though, and Jakirovic wouldn’t like to lose him, either.
However, the unfortunate truth is City may be left with no option but to entertain the interest if they are to strengthen.
“Of course, he is our player,” Jakirovic said when asked if he would like to see Saturday’s goalscorer stay at the MKM Stadium. “If we bring in, I don’t know, two or three wingers and we have a problem with the list of 25, one has to go. Who? I don’t know. We can not register over 25 players.”
On his goal and performance against Coventry, the head coach added: “He showed great mentality to stay strong because we know what he is capable of.
“He is a very fast player, especially in these wide spaces. Excellent ball from Mo Belloumi and calm finish. Excellent.”
Millar is one of a number of players who could leave the club before Tuesday night’s deadline, with Abdus Omur, Kieran Dowell, David Akintola, Matty Jacob and Oscar Zambrano potentially set to leave either on loan or potentially permanently.
