The family of Graham Finn are ‘hurt, disgusted and angry’ by Robert Bush’s crimes
On Friday, July 31 2026, Hull funeral director Robert Bush was jailed for 20 years.
The 48-year-old left bodies to decompose at Legacy Independent Funeral Directors’ premises in the city, gave bereaved families the ashes of other people and stole money donated from collections at funerals. The “horror” and revulsion felt by the families who had lost loved ones was revealed at Hull Crown Court during a series of powerful and harrowing victim statements during the first four days of the five-day sentencing hearing.
Over the coming weeks, we will be publishing those statements – from families who had cruelly been taken advantage of when they were at their most vulnerable. Their stories need to be told, and we will ensure that they are, for as long as it takes.
I am the grandchild of one of the individuals affected by the Hull Legacy scandal, Graham Finn. I want to speak about the devastating impact this has had on me and my family.
My pampa was a quiet, gentle man who kept himself to himself. He lived his life with dignity, and he deserved to be treated with the same dignity in death. What happened to him was inhumane, grotesquely disrespectful, and has left my family shattered.
This is the first death I have experienced in my 23 years of life — and while I know how lucky I am to have had that time with him, nothing could have prepared me for the horror of what followed. I feel completely robbed of the chance to say a proper, loving, and memorable goodbye to my pampa. That moment — which should have brought us peace and closure — was stolen from us in the most unimaginable way.
I want to remember my pampa the way he truly was – not through the lens of this crime. I want to remember Saturday nights sitting with him while he let me watch whatever I wanted on the TV, if you knew my pampa you would know this was a rarity. I want to remember how he used to take me to Old Nanna and Old Pampa’s house for lunch from school. Those are memories that mean the world to me and reflect who he was as a Pampa and the love we shared.
There are no words to fully capture the disgust I feel. Every time I see this case in the news or online, it feels like an out-of-body experience, like it’s not real — like this couldn’t possibly be happening to us. But it is real.
And the pain is constant. It has taken a toll on all of us. My whole family is suffering. We are confused, broken, and overwhelmed by grief. I think about this every single day. It has consumed us. It has torn us apart.
I despise Robert Bush for the pain and anguish he has caused — not only to my family but to so many others. He showed no respect for the dead, no consideration for the living, and no sign of human decency.
I hope that for the rest of his life, he is haunted by what he has done. I hope he feels the weight of every family he has destroyed. I hope no one ever shows him an ounce of compassion, because he extended none to us.
My pampa is more than a statistic. We are hurt. We are disgusted. We are angry. Nothing will ever be the same again. My pampa didn’t deserve this — no one did. Justice must be served, not just for our family, but for every single person affected by this appalling crime.
Mollie Finn
