Michele Moran took on a series of surprise tasks and made almost £3,000

Michele Moran, the chief executive of Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust, has raised nearly £3,000 for Health Stars, the trust’s charity, through her annual CEO Challenge. The trust provides a wide range of mental health, community, learning disability, children’s and addiction services across Hull, the East Riding and North Yorkshire.
Each year, Michele takes on a personal challenge that tests her both mentally and physically while raising funds for a charitable cause. This year, the funds raised will create a dedicated Staff Wellbeing Fund to support the trust’s workforce.
Previous CEO Challenges have included a 100km cycle ride, a half-marathon walk and an endurance golf day. This year’s challenge saw Michele complete a series of surprise tasks throughout a single day.
With no prior knowledge of what each challenge would involve, Michele had to quickly learn new skills and put them into practice to raise funds. The day began with a British Sign Language session led by the trust’s speech and language therapy team.
The challenge was supported by a number of local businesses. Lexacom was the headline sponsor and individual challenges were sponsored by Heatons Group, Humber Projects, Glen Wilson Limited, Arm Signs, Aire Logic and Synanetics.
As part of the day, Arm Signs challenged Michele to apply vinyl signage to one of the Health Stars electric vans. Yet one of the most physically demanding tasks saw her join Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, where she carried heavy firefighting equipment around a course and wore full protective clothing.
Michele noted the weight of the equipment and protective gear, highlighting the strength and endurance required by firefighters in their day-to-day roles. Michele said: “I look forward to this challenge every year because it provides a fantastic opportunity for me to say thank you to our amazing staff.
“The creativity and effort that teams put into devising challenges also never fail to impress me, and this year’s event was no exception. It is a pleasure to be raising funds for the people who make such a difference every day, delivering exceptional care to patients across our services.”
The trust places a strong emphasis on supporting the wellbeing of its staff through a range of initiatives throughout the year. The funds raised through this year’s CEO Challenge will help provide additional wellbeing support and benefits for colleagues across the trust.
