He bombarded her with calls and messages and turned up at her work and gym

A jealous and obsessed stalker made his ex-girlfriend’s life a misery by bombarding her with messages and telephone calls – and turning up unannounced at her workplace and gym. Jordan Sadler had previously been spared prison for an earlier stalking offence but that did not stop him targeting the latest victim, Hull Crown Court heard.
Sadler, 34, of Market Place, Market Weighton, admitted an offence of stalking in Beverley between June 1 and 28, 2024. He pleaded guilty on the day of a scheduled trial.
Maya Hanson, prosecuting, said that Sadler was in a relationship with the woman for about two months between April and June 2024. They met through a friend and, at first, the relationship was fine.
“However, this quickly changed when he became jealous if she would talk to other males,” said Miss Hanson. Sadler’s behaviour got worse when she ended the relationship in early June 2024 and started seeing someone else.
He stalked her by going to her workplace unannounced, approaching her, shouting her name, turning up at the gym she attended, sending her unwanted text messages and making unwanted calls. On June 21, 2024, he turned up at the bar in Beverley where she worked at the time.
On June 23 of that year, she was walking home at 11pm and, as she walked past Poundland in Flemingate, Beverley, she heard someone shouting her name. “When she looked around, she saw the defendant waving at her,” said Miss Hanson.
“She stopped and asked him what he was doing.” Sadler replied: “I’ve sorted myself out and you’ve got stuff at mine.”
On June 24, 2024, the woman went to the gym in Beverley at 5pm and saw Sadler at the reception desk. He told her: “You’re a c***.” When she finished the class just after 6pm, she saw him outside the centre.
The next day, at about 3pm, Sadler again went to her workplace unannounced and asked a member of staff to speak to her. She was able to obtain some CCTV and this was given to the police.
“During this time, he sent her unwanted messages on Facebook and WhatsApp and, when she did not reply or told him she was busy, he would continue to message and call her,” said Miss Hanson. The woman later said: “Jordan’s behaviour has caused me to feel unsafe everywhere I go.
“I am frightened of his behaviour and his capabilities. I wish I can continue my life without the presence of Jordan as I feel his grasp everywhere I go.
“My mental health has been impacted negatively throughout these incidents and it has affected my daily life as it is limiting where I can go.” Sadler was arrested on June 27, 2024. He denied stalking the woman.
Sadler had convictions for six previous offences, including stalking on February 6, 2024. He was given a 12-week suspended prison sentence in April of that year for that offence. He was convicted in November last year of breaching a restraining order.
Julia Baggs, mitigating, said that Sadler was deeply remorseful and he accepted responsibility for his actions. He was doing working voluntarily with charity events out of the area.
He did not object to a restraining order so that he could move on with his life. He had suffered problems and bereavements and he was anxious about the prospect of custody.
Sadler, who had been on bail, was jailed for 16 months. He was given a five-year restraining order.
