Hull KR star Mikey Lewis has been handed a four-match ban for two separate incidents against Warrington Wolves.
Lewis was sin-binned late in the game on Saturday after a clear late hit and he has been hit with a Grade C late contact charge and a one-match ban for that offence.
However, the playmaker has also been punished for the headbutt on Adam Holroyd that was missed by officials at the time but picked up by Sky Sports cameras.
Lewis appeared to move his head towards the Warrington man a manner that could be deemed to be violent and that’s the way the Match Review Panel have seen it with a Grade E charge and a further 18 penalty points being handed to the England international.
That offence carries a three-game ban and with the Grade C on top, he will miss KR’s next four games. KR can appeal of course but as it stands, he will be due to return against Warrington Wolves on August 18.
Lewis is one three players banned this week with Taane Milne receiving a three-game suspension for the Grade E offence of making contact with an injured player.
Wigan Warriors youngster Kian McDermott will also spend time in the stands now after being hit with a Grade D head contact charge. That takes him over the threshold for a two-match ban.
A total of nine players have been charged in total, with Leeds Rhinos’ James McDonnell, Wakefield’s Caleb Hamlin-Uele and Bradford’s Jack Ormondroyd amongst them.
