Resurfacing works are set to begin on six streets in Orchard Park from July 13, as Hull City Council aims to improve deteriorated footpaths across the area

Essential resurfacing works are set to begin across six Orchard Park streets, as part of Hull City Council’s bid to improve the city’s footways. The works will take place on Innescourt, Jetcourt, Highcourt, Mulcourt, Quilcourt and Ribycourt, focusing on resurfacing and reconstructing deteriorated sections of the footpaths. The aim of the project is to offer a smoother, safer, and more accessible surface for all users.
Works are scheduled to begin on Monday 13 July and are expected to take approximately nine weeks to complete, weather permitting. Hull City Council has announced the following schedule which aims to “reduce the impact on residents”. The phases will take place on the following dates:
Phase one: Innescourt (27) – Monday 13 July
Phase two: Highcourt – Monday 13 July
Phase three: Innescourt (22) – Monday 27 July
Phase four: Play Area (near 27 Nashcourt) – Tuesday 28 July
Phase five: Jetcourt (25) – Tuesday 4 August
Phase six: Ribycourt (36) – Thursday 13 August
Phase seven: Mulcourt – Friday 14 August
Phase eight: Ribycourt (27) – Thursday 20 August
Phase nine: Quilcourt – Thursday 27 August
Phase ten: Ribycourt (18) – Thursday 27 August
Footpath closures will be in place during these times and signed diversions will be in place. Access will be maintained for residents. Affected residents should have now received letters outlining the works, disruption expected and contact details should they require any further information.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure at Hull City Council, said: “Good quality footpaths are something many of us take for granted until they begin to deteriorate. They play an important role in helping people get around safely every day, whether that’s walking to school, catching the bus, visiting neighbours or simply getting out and about.
“These improvements will repair worn sections of footway, provide smoother and safer routes for pedestrians, and help prevent more costly repairs in the future. Investing in our neighbourhoods means looking after the infrastructure people rely on every day. This scheme builds on the improvements completed in Orchard Park last year, and demonstrates our continued commitment to maintaining safer, more accessible streets across the city. We thank residents for their patience and understanding while this work is carried out.”
The scheme is part of Hull City Council’s Capital Maintenance Programme and will be carried out by PBS Construction (NE) on behalf of the council.
