Latest planning developments in Hull and East Riding
- Planning approval granted to new bar in Hull: An LGBT+ friendly bar called Kopper is set to come to Hull city centre. Planning permission has been granted for the conversion of a former Hull FC merchandise store in Savile Street into a drinking establishment. “The intention is to bring a currently unused unit back into active use and contribute positively to the local economy and night-time offering,” stated applicant Luke Kingswood, the director of DJL Entertainments Ltd, in a submission to the council. The council ‘s environmental health effectively quashed plans for it to be open until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights, due to fears of “increased late-night noise and disturbance”. Instead, it will be able to be open until midnight, like other bars in the immediate area.
- Pub revival plans in Beverley: An application has been made to East Riding Council to refurbish, and so revive, the Moulders Arms in Wilbert Lane, Beverley. The pub closed its doors two years ago, according to the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA). Refurbishment plans include replacement windows and new rooflights and change of use of accommodation above from one two-bed apartment to also include a one-bed flat as well.
- Banners on lampposts along prominent Goole road : Planning approval has been confirmed for council plans to install 23 pictorial banners on lampposts along Boothferry Road, Goole. The designs, developed by Kim Hubball Studio after an ideas appeal to help create a new illustrative identity for Goole, feature a series of depictions of Goole landmarks. These include the Goole Clock Tower, West Park and the Dock. UK Shared Prosperity Funding (UKSPF) has gone towards the scheme. 2026 marks the bicentenary of Goole’s founding.
- Double-sided digital advert at Hull petrol station: Planning approval has been granted to a double-sided small format advertising display, of a maximum 2.45m high by maximum 1.23m wide, at the Jet Petrol Station in Beverley Road, adjacent to Grafton Street. Wildstone Estates Limited was the applicant. A planning document states it is working with Motor Fuel Group, the petrol station site’s owners, to modernise its advertising infrastructure across its sites.
