Hull FC are expected to make changes ahead of the 2027 season.

Hull FC interim coach Andy Last has challenged his players to keep their focus on the ‘here and now’ amid talk of incomings and outgoings at the club.

The Black and Whites will make changes for the 2027 season, with players and backroom staff set to arrive, including the likes of Bailey Hodsgon, Alrix Da Costa, and Scott Taylor. Consequently, it also means that some players will depart the club, with the likes of Aidan Sezer, who has been linked to York Knights, and Cade Cust reported to be offered to clubs in recent weeks.

But Last has insisted the focus must be on the present and nothing else, with Hull next going up against Hull KR at the Magic Weekend after putting in one of their best performances of the season, albeit in defeat, against Wigan Warriors last Saturday afternoon.

“I think all players at this moment in time are feeling a little bit worried and a little bit nervous about their long-term future at the club,” Last said. “Obviously there’s a change of coach coming and with change comes change to personnel, change to staff, etc.

“All we can do is manage the here and now. It can be difficult because players read social media and players read newspaper articles because those are the modern-day players. Social media is part of the modern-day player’s life. Whenever you’re on the coach travelling to a game, you’ve got the phone in your hand, and it’s normally Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, or whatever.

“They’re reading various stuff from potential transfer rumours, incomings, outgoings, all that sort of stuff. I just try to focus on the group that we’ve got.”

As for that group, Hull, without 14 players due to injury and suspension against Wigan, could welcome back three for the derby clash. They have lost Harvey Barron after the winger failed his HIA but are monitoring the fitness of Ethan O’Neill, James Bell, and Cade Cust. A decision on all players will be made later this week.
