Hull Animal Welfare Trust has revealed the launch of its new mobile veterinary service. The charity said that they hope this will help tackle issues that they see every day in the rescue.
CEO Holly Barker often looks for innovative solutions, and she has once again turned a dream into a reality with this latest venture. The rescue said that although they have their own Veterinary Surgeon and Veterinary Nurse on site, more support is needed.
For instance, the rescue regularly hosts discounted dog and cat neutering campaigns. However, they receive more requests than they are able to accommodate, highlighting that many pet owners are struggling to afford vet care.
Hull Animal Welfare Trust said that their Veterinary Surgeon and Veterinary Nurse will be able to provide routine health checks, vaccinations, microchipping and neutering services at various locations across Hull and the East Riding, thanks to the new mobile service.
In a statement, the rescue said: “We are absolutely thrilled that this vision has become a reality, and it would not have been possible without the incredible support of our community. We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has supported Hull Animal Welfare and helped make this possible.
“Together, we can make a real difference to animal welfare across our region, helping to reduce the number of unwanted and abandoned animals that find themselves in rescue centres and ensuring more pets receive the care they deserve. Also we’d like to say big thank you to MW Graphics for doing the amazing graphics on our van free of charge!”
Taking to Facebook, the local community expressed their praise at the launch of the project. One person said: “WOW! Amazing, what a fantastic thing, we are really lucky to have you HAWT and the other local rescues in Hull. On behalf of the animals, thank you so very much!”
And another said: “What an innovative idea and amazing CEO. Congratulations to everyone involved who has made this happen. Absolutely incredible. What a milestone.”
It is clearly a busy time at Hull Animal Welfare Trust as the team is also looking forward to an auction night on Saturday. The event will help raise vital funds for the animals in their care.
Organisers said that every ticket sold helps to provide food, shelter, veterinary treatment, and a brighter future for rescued animals. Tickets are just £5 and the Auction Night will be held at the Back Room in Cottingham at 6pm. More information can be found here.
