
Volunteers, charity leaders, educators and community champions are receiving awards for their contributions across the region
Hull and East Riding residents are among those recognised in this year’s King’s Birthday Honours, with volunteers, charity leaders, educators and community champions receiving awards for their contributions across the region.
Among those honoured are Jamie Lewis, who receives an MBE for voluntary services to communities across Yorkshire, and Hull Independent Merchant Navy Association volunteers Cyril Alexander Butler and Edwin Piercy, who are both recognised for their services to the Merchant Navy in Hull.
The honours list also includes foster carer Diane Benstead, community volunteer Jayne Nendick and Hull College vice-principal Catherine Sykes, while former Humberside Police officer John Clint Day, child dental health campaigner Christopher Groombridge, rugby league volunteer Alan Parker and Goole Town Council clerk Brian Robertson all receive British Empire Medals.
