Hull KR confirm Tom Whitehead move as off-season recruit completes loan switch

Hull KR’s Tom Whitehead will spend the remainder of the 2026 season on loan in the Championship, the club has confirmed. The off-season recruit has joined Doncaster with immediate effect for the rest of their campaign.

Whitehead, 23, moved to Sewell Group Craven Park from Warrington Wolves ahead of the current season and made his first-team debut against community club Lock Lane in the Challenge Cup. He is contracted to Rovers until the end of 2028.

The forward has featured regularly for Hull KR ’s reserves and has also made senior appearances against Huddersfield Giants in the Challenge Cup and away to Catalans Dragons in the Robins’ 26-20 defeat at Stade Gilbert Brutus.

A club statement read: “Hull KR can confirm second-rower Tom Whitehead has joined Doncaster RLFC on a season-long loan with immediate effect.

“Tom Whitehead made his first team debut for Hull KR earlier this year against Lock Lane in the Challenge Cup and has featured consistently for the Robins’ Reserves.

“The 23-year-old links up with the Dons as they push forward in the RFL Championship.

“Everyone at Hull KR wishes Tom the best of luck during his time at the Eco-Power Stadium.”

Doncaster, coached by Richard Horne, currently sit sixth in the Championship table, with eight wins from 12.

Meanwhile, Hull KR have confirmed the immediate signing of outside-back Ryan Westerman from Hull FC on a deal until the end of next season.

The 20-year-old made two first-grade appearances for the Black and Whites, having debuted against Catalans Dragons in September 2024.

Westerman had been contracted to the MKM Stadium club until the end of next year.
