
The new Premier League campaign kicks off over the weekend of August 22
Hull City’s preparations for the new Premier League campaign will see a shift in approach from previous seasons, with the Tigers heading to Slovenia for a warm-weather training camp.
City, who won promotion to the top-flight at Wembley last weekend courtesy of Oli McBurnie’s 95th-minute winner against Middlesbrough, are now preparing for their first foray into the top-flight for a decade.
The Tigers have adjusted their training schedule with the top-flight campaign beginning a week later than the Championship, so the players will spend the first week in Cottingham when they return on July 13.

As part of their pre-season schedule, Sergej Jakirovic’s Tigers will then have nine days on the stunning Drava River in Maribor, but it’s unlikely they’ll take on the club owned by Acun Ilicali, owing to their season getting underway early.
From there, the Tigers are then expected to travel straight to Istanbul and spend three days in Turkey, where they’ll come up against Super Lig opposition in another showpiece friendly.
It had been hoped that Jakirovic’s side would play Fenerbahce for a third time, but given that the Tigers are now working to a Premier League schedule, their trip to the banks of the Bosphorus is likely to clash with their Champions League qualifiers.
The Tigers are hoping to be in a position to reveal details in the near future about how fans can attend the game in Turkey, with Corendon Airlines working on a bespoke travel package.
It’s understood City had been offered the chance to go to the USA for two games, but Jakirovic opted against doing that and instead pushed for a spell in Slovenia.
After spending pre-season in Marbella in the first summer following Ilicali’s takeover in January 2022, the Tigers have spent the last three summer training camps in Riva, at the headquarters of the Turkish FA located just outside Istanbul, though they’re not planning to be based there this time around.
