The former ticket office seems set to be brought back to life

Plans have been submitted to Hull City Council for ‘Hull Tap’ signage to be put up on the former ticket office in Hull Paragon Interchange. The council last year announced its intention to see the site become a bar.

The plans have been submitted to the council by Thornbridge & Co who have a vast portfolio of pubs across the country. The brewery runs The Market Cat in York, The Bankers Cat in Leeds, and The Colmore in Birmingham, just to name a few.

Just under a year ago, the council announced it would be awarding grants for regeneration works inside the station. These included £315,000 to bring the former ticket office and hall into use as a ‘high-quality’ bar.

At the time, the council’s portfolio holder for regeneration, Cllr Paul Drake-Davis said: “These awards are another great example of the potential that the city centre grant scheme can unlock. The former ticket office has stood vacant for many years, almost a decade, so it is pleasing that a large unit will be occupied thanks to grant funding.”

Plans have now been submitted which display how the signage on the bar could look. It reads “Hull Tap” and “Pizza.” The plans also suggest two pool tables could be installed inside the bar.

Part of the Hull Tap site was until recently occupied by WHSmith, who have now moved to a different unit in the station. WHSmith can now be found next to both Costa and Starbucks on the opposite side.

A layout plan for the bar suggests there would be a variety of seating available. Plans show tall tables, booths, and ‘pavement cafe’ seating.
