Police are attending and a scene guard is in place following the incident

Police officers are in attendance and a cordon is in place following reports that a man was seriously assaulted in the area of Queen Victoria Square, Hull, during the early hours of this morning (Sunday, April 19). Emergency services were called to the scene at around 3.40am, and a 53-year-old man was taken to hospital to receive treatment for a serious head injury, where he remains at this time.

Humberside Police said extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident and identify those involved, including the review of CCTV from the area. Detective Inspector Mark Hawley said: “I understand the concern this incident will cause within the community.

“I would like to offer reassurance that a team of officers are carrying out extensive enquiries at pace. Members of the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area, and a scene guard remains in place on Carr Lane while our enquiries are ongoing.

“I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time, who has not already spoken to us, and may have witnessed the incident to please come forward. If you have any CCTV, mobile phone, or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident, please call our non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference 26*52263.”
