Tickets for Beverley Pride’s LGBTQ friendly cinema club are just £5
Following the successful launch of its monthly cinema club, Beverley Pride said it is delighted to invite the community to the next instalment of ‘Pride & Popcorn’. This will take place on Friday 24th April at the earlier time of 6:00PM at Parkway Cinema, Beverley.
This month’s screening features Disney’s animated adventure Strange World, a vibrant and action-packed film that follows the Clade family, a legendary family of explorers as they embark on a journey into an uncharted and mysterious land.
Along the way, the film explores themes of family, identity, and understanding across generations. Notably, Strange World features one of Disney’s first openly LGBTQ+ teenage characters, Ethan Clade.
Organisers said Ethan’s story is presented with warmth, normality and authenticity. They added his character is not defined solely by his identity, but instead is part of a broader, relatable coming-of-age story, making the film an important step forward in inclusive, family-friendly storytelling.
Tickets are just £5 and can be purchased in advance online or on the day. Pride & Popcorn aims to provide a welcoming and inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ people, families, friends and allies to come together, enjoy great films and build meaningful connections within the local community.
With an earlier start time for this screening, Beverley Pride hopes to encourage even more families to attend and enjoy the experience together. Whether you come along with friends, family, or on your own, everyone is welcome.
Organisers said the event is designed to be relaxed, friendly and accessible, a space where people can feel comfortable, meet others, and be part of a growing community.
Members of the Beverley Pride committee will be there before and after the screening for anyone who would like to stay for a chat, meet new people, and get to know others in a supportive environment. They said: “Pride & Popcorn is about creating a space where people can come together, feel welcome, and make connections.
“We know it can sometimes feel daunting to come to something alone, but this is exactly the kind of space where that’s absolutely okay. We’re building something really special here and we’d love people to be part of it.”
