K-Pop Icons will be looking for plenty of audience participation

A unique and original K-Pop experience is coming to Hull next week, merging digital innovation with live performance. The world’s first touring K-Pop band, K-Pop Icons, will take centre stage at Hull City Hall, on Tuesday, April 14, at 6pm.

The ground-breaking hybrid concert stars holographic digital avatar stars alongside a world-class dance crew. Inspired by Korea’s global music phenomenon and Netflix’s K-Pop Demon Hunters, the show features songs from major acts including Blackpink, Rosé, BTS, K/DA, KATSEYE and the hugely popular groups, Saja Boys and HUNTR/X.

The production combines cutting-edge visuals, iconic choreography and immersive engagement technology in this interactive performance. The K-Pop Icons appear as animated performers, brought to life through large-scale holograms, incredible original vocals and stage design, supported by an elite live dance ensemble known as the Dream Team.

K-Pop Icons leans heavily into audience participation. Young fans are encouraged to vote for their favourite Icon and play a role in “crowning” their champion during the performance, turning each show into a uniquely interactive experience.

Ahead of the world tour that is making a stop in Hull, line producer Anna Anikeyeva said: “I am beyond excited to bring K-Pop Icons to families across the world. Live theatre has always been important and with the digital world we live in it makes sense to combine both realities in a unique family show.

“My three-year-old immediately fell in love with our avatars, her excitement as she caught glimpses of the show’s development was exhilarating. Seeing it through a child’s eyes inspires the wonder and magic of theatre we are bringing to so many.”

Producers describe the tour as a celebration of K-Pop’s power to unite generations, cultures, and fandoms. With its blend of digital artistry, live performance, and pop anthems, K-Pop Icons aims to appeal not only to devoted fans, but also to families and newcomers discovering the genre for the first time.

Hull City Hall said: “Get ready to sing, dance, and party like never before with the K-Pop Icons – the ultimate live concert starring the UK’s first virtual K-Pop band and a sensational live dance crew delivering a world-exclusive experience, celebrating Korea’s global music phenomenon.” The show is set to be packed with the biggest hits and fan-favourite tracks from Netflix’s smash-hit film K-Pop Demon Hunters, the venue said.
