Elisha and Trinity hope to bring comfort to others by helping Chasing Rainbows

Two best friends from Hull are going all out to help a baby loss charity after they themselves lost four children between them. Elisha Magee and Trinity Taylor are holding two fundraisers on the same day in May, for Chasing Rainbows.

The Hull-based charity offers baby loss, miscarriage and infertility support locally and across the UK. Founded in 2019 by Samantha Catanach, now a mother after five losses herself, the charity has become a beacon of hope for hundreds of families in their darkest moments.

Elisha said: “The events will take place on Saturday, May 16 and aim to bring people together for a day and evening of fun, while raising vital funds for a meaningful cause.” The action will start with a children’s fun day, at Bean Street Community Centre, from 11am to 3pm.

“This family-friendly event will include activities such as face painting, hair braiding, and the opportunity to meet a Disney princess,” said Elisha. “There will also be a tombola and raffle with fantastic prizes generously donated by local businesses.

“Everyone is welcome to attend, even if it’s just to enjoy a slice of cake and a cup of tea.” In the evening, an 18-plus boxing event will take place at the MKM Stadium, from 7pm until late.

The night will feature a series of boxing matches, two large raffles, live entertainment from a special guest, a DJ and a bar. Tickets are priced at £30 for general admission or £350 for a ringside table of ten.

“All proceeds from both events will go directly to Chasing Rainbows, supporting the incredible work they do,” Elisha said. “Between myself and Trinity, we’ve lost four babies and that’s something that has changed who we are forever.

“It’s a kind of pain that’s impossible to fully put into words unless you’ve lived it. The heartbreak runs so deep, deeper than we ever thought possible.

“It’s the dreams we had, the plans we made, the futures we imagined… all suddenly gone. There are days where it feels overwhelming, like the weight of it all is too much to carry, and other days where it sits quietly in the background – but it never truly leaves us.

“Each of our babies were so deeply wanted, so loved from the very beginning. From the moment we knew about them, they mattered.

“They were ours. Even though we never got to hold them, watch them grow, or become who they were meant to be, they will always be a part of us. We think about them every day, in the small moments, in the silence, in the ‘what could have been’.

“The love we have for them didn’t end when we lost them, it just changed into something we now carry in our hearts forever.” Elisha said: “This kind of loss can feel incredibly lonely, like the world keeps moving while you’re standing still in your grief.

“But going through this has also shown us how important it is to have support, to have people and places that truly understand. That’s why we’re so grateful there are organisations like Chasing Rainbows.

“Knowing there is somewhere people can turn to, somewhere that offers comfort, understanding, and reminds you that you’re not alone in this, means everything. We wouldn’t wish this pain on anyone, but it brings us some comfort knowing that others will have support when they need it most.”

Elisha and Trinity said their efforts were “for our babies – four little lives who will always be loved, always be missed, and never be forgotten”. The friends are currently seeking local business sponsors and raffle prize donations, with “any support from the community greatly appreciated”.
