The City star has spoken glowingly of his Tigers teammate

Kyle Joseph believes Oli McBurnie is the best striker in the Championship, and he should be in the Scotland squad that travels to the World Cup this summer.

No striker in the Championship has more goals and assists than the 20 McBurnie has so far with Hull City, despite missing nine games through injury before Christmas.

Despite being Scotland’s most in-form striker consistently throughout the current campaign, Tartan Army chief Steve Clarke has once again resisted the temptation to end his five-year international exile.

Joseph, himself, with eight goals, has scored more than Che Adams and Lydon Dykes put together, both of whom are part of Clarke’s setup this month. Joseph hasn’t played for Scotland at the senior level despite playing for the nation’s youth teams.

“To be totally honest, it’s not even something I’ve thought about,” Joseph told Hull Live when asked if he’d considered a potential call-up of his own.

“To be fair, when I looked at the squad, I was surprised not to see Oli in it. You look at the type of player that he is, even a person, I think he’s really good to have around the squad,” he continued.

“You’ve got to respect what’s there, what the manager’s chosen, but in my opinion, I think he should be in the squad, and I think he should be in it in the summer and go to the World Cup.

“You’ve seen the form he’s been in this season, the type of goalscorer he is, he gets chances, he leads the line really well, and I think he’s probably the best striker in the league in my opinion anyway.”
