Hull KR have claimed just one win from their opening four Super League games.

Willie Peters knows his Hull KR side must improve after suffering their third Super League defeat in four opening games, but insists it’s far too early to hit the panic button.

The reigning champions fought back from 20-6 down to level the scores at 20-20 against Catalans Dragons, only for a last-minute try from teenage winger Lenny Marc to snatch a 26-20 victory for the hosts.

The result leaves Hull KR with just one win so far this season – a disappointing return for a team that also lifted the World Club Challenge trophy in February with a dramatic win over Brisbane Broncos.

Peters had hoped the Robins could build on back-to-back wins over Huddersfield Giants, including a commanding 52-12 Challenge Cup fourth round win that secured their place in the quarter-finals. But the trip to Perpignan highlighted areas that need improvement.

“It is a long season,” Peters said. “Obviously we’ve had a difficult start in terms of getting some momentum.

“Three losses, so it’s no ideal where we sit, but it’s always how you come back.

“There’s a bit to like with some of that performance, there’s obviously a lot that we didn’t like as well.

“Where we sit at the moment, it’s about us improving and getting better. It’s not about the opposition and what they’re doing.”

Hull KR will play their first home Super League game next week against St Helens, having only played one competitive match at Sewell Group Craven Park so far – a record 104-0 Challenge Cup demolition of community club Lock Lane.

After that follows the Good Friday derby against city rivals Hull FC, who take on Leeds Rhinos later today at the MKM Stadium.

“We’ll review this game and look forward to getting back home next week,” Peters said. “We’ve got three home games now [including Challenge Cup], which will be good for us – we haven’t played at home [in Super League] this year.

“They’re all tough, Saints are obviously playing well at the moment, but I’m not worried about anyone else. We need to improve.”
