Some addresses won’t receive their mail on time.
Royal Mail has announced delivery disruption affecting specific postcodes throughout Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. Multiple parts of the UK will experience delayed mail deliveries.
The postal service typically aims to deliver letters and parcels six days per week. Nevertheless, it has acknowledged that numerous disruptions have caused delays in particular areas.
Royal Mail said: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.
“In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers. We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”
It added: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding,” reports the Mirror.
As of Friday, March 13, Royal Mail confirmed that letters and parcels have been transported across its air and road network according to schedule.
All of its mail centres have confirmed that post was processed and dispatched on time during the past 24 hours. However, 26 delivery depots nationwide have experienced setbacks, including Hull.
Depots in locations such as Bristol, Glasgow, Hull, Pontyclun and Swindon are amongst those impacted.
This has resulted in consequences for 74 postcode districts across England, Wales and Scotland, with 12 postcodes affected in Hull.
These delays come amid news that Royal Mail is preparing to hike stamp prices in April.
A first class stamp will rise by 10p to £1.80, whilst a second class stamp will increase by 4p to 91p.
Back in 2016, a first class stamp cost just 64p, meaning the price will have soared by 181% over the past 10 years.
Royal Mail attributed the price rises to the growing cost of delivery, as letter volumes have declined whilst the number of addresses has continued to increase.
