Firefighters from Humber Fire & Rescue Service were invited to a special Blue Light Breakfast

Residents and staff of a Goole care home enjoyed a visit by Humberside Fire & Rescue Service. Windsor Court, part of the HC One group of care homes, was delighted to welcome in local heroes from Goole Fire Station, for a special Blue Light Breakfast, celebrating the vital work of emergency services.

The firefighters enjoyed a hearty breakfast of bacon, sausage and hash brown sandwiches, alongside plenty of tea and coffee, before spending time chatting with residents, sharing stories and bringing smiles to everyone they met. A highlight of the morning was the opportunity for residents to see a fire engine up close and learn more about the equipment firefighters use to keep the community safe.

Residents even had a go at using some of the equipment themselves, including spraying the fire engine hose. It was an experience that proved to be a real hit and sparked lots of excitement and laughter.

Julie Harrison, home manager at Windsor Court, said: “We were absolutely thrilled to welcome the team from Goole Fire Station to Windsor Court. Our residents loved meeting the firefighters, hearing their stories and having a go with some of the equipment.

“It was such a fun and engaging morning. We’re incredibly grateful for everything they do to keep our community safe.”

Windsor Court extended its heartfelt thanks to the team at Humberside Fire & Rescue Service – Goole Fire Station for taking the time to visit and for the incredible work they do every day. Their kindness, thoughtfulness and commitment to the community made the morning truly special for residents and colleagues alike, the home said.
