The Tigers still have some wriggle room in their Championship roster

Hull City’s squad list has been confirmed after the end of the January window, following the arrivals of Toby Collyer, Lewis Koumas, Yu Hirakawa, Kieran Dowell and Paddy McNair.

City have filled 23 of their 25 spots in their squad, meaning two more spots are available. Those two places have been provisionally left open for the return of Mo Belloumi and Eliot Matazo.

Belloumi is expected back from his hamstring injury towards the back end of March, possibly early in April. Matazo is gradually returning to training after a year out with an ACL injury, and it’s likely he will feature in Under-21 games before being brought back to the first team fold on a matchday.

The Tigers may now look to deregister Yu Hirakawa, given his ankle injury will rule him out for the remainder of the campaign. That may well open up the opportunity for David Akintola to come back into the fold and play a part in the remaining weeks.
